The integrated impeller is factory replaceable, although damage is unlikely due to the small opening. The impeller creates a magnetic field during rotation that is registered by the integrated sealed electronics to calculate wind speed. Bold LCD The LCD is designed to be read easily from any angle with its large and bold font. Icons show the mode and what measurement unit is used. The EL backlight, activated by a press of the button, is ideal for use in dim light. Simple Operation Switching modes and measuring units is easily done with one button. All units of measure are available for each mode, making this truly a worldwide product. The Xplorer 4 has several easily accessible modes including accessing the 48-hour memory of pressure and altitude. Accurate weather predictions can be made by viewing the movement of air pressure change over the past 6 to 12 hours. Swiss Design The Swiss are well known for their attention to detail and quality products, and the Skywatch Xplorer is no exception. Designed around the concept of a watch, these compact wind meters feature details such as a stainless steel back with rubber gasket and high-impact plastic case to attain a beautiful yet rugged design. Once a Skywatch Xplorer is in your hands, you will know you are holding a quality instrument. Internal Sensors The Skywatch Xplorer is a dependable and rugged instrument. All sensors are contained in the watertight body, yet still measure the environment quickly and accurately. The thermometer is mounted on the inside of the steel plate to respond quickly to changes in temperature yet stay protected. Air pressure and altitude are measured with a Swiss barometer accurate to 29,500 feet (model WM-4 only). Wind Direction A first in digital wind meters! The integrated digital compass functions when the unit is vertical while measuring wind speed. Wind direction can be found quickly by facing the unit into the wind, finding the strongest reading, and looking at the degrees off North. The sensitive Swiss compass is easily calibrated, maintaining an exact reading every time. |
